Hildegard I. Peddy
Hildegard I. Peddy Portsmouth - Hildegard Illenberger Peddy was born in Germany and came to Portsmouth, VA in 1959 after falling in love with an American soldier, Leonard Peddy. She later became a naturalized citizen. She was a stay at home mom and volunteered at her children's schools and delivered Meals on Wheels. She bowled weekly in a league and enjoyed knitting. She made it a priority to attend all of her children's and grandchildren's sporting events and music programs. She was a faithful member of Centenary United Methodist Church since 1965. She attended the Open Door Sunday School Class and was a member of the Friendship Circle and United Methodist Women. Hildegard is survived by her husband of 57 years, Leonard Peddy; children, Barbara Peddy Bryant (Bill), Thomas Peddy (Brigid); grandchildren Krista Bryant (fiancé Jake Conrad), Kelsey Bryant, Jack Peddy, and Sean Peddy; nephew Jurgen (Petra) Illenberger; niece Jutta Schneider; extended family Mary and William J. Bryant. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm Saturday at Centenary United Methodist Church by Rev. John Cole II, with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in Loving Funeral Home Friday from 7-8 pm. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Centenary United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be made at .
