Herman F. Scheibelhut
Herman Francis Scheibelhut, 85, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Thursday at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg. Born in Pottsville, Nov. 16, 1930, he was a son of the late Herman Joseph and Helen Neiheiser Scheibelhut. He was the widower of Annerose Quint Scheibelhut, who passed away March 24, 2015. Herman was a 1948 graduate of Pottsville High School. He was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven. Herman served in the Army and the Air Force. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Army of Occupation and Good Conduct Medals, Air Force Longevity and 4 Air Force Commendation Awards. He was employed as a personnel technician at a service office for the military. He also worked as a press operator for the former Bound Bearing Corp., Auburn. Herman was also employed by Fort Indiantown Gap in support of Vietnam and Korean refugee programs and later as a warehouseman at the commissary warehouse and also in the maintenance department. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded by a brother, William, and sisters, Elizabeth "Doris," widow of John Blum, and Marguerite "Nancy," widow of Donald Doyne. Herman is survived by a daughter, Rosemarie A. Schimpf, wife of Timothy, Schuylkill Haven; grandson, Aaron J. Schimpf, husband of Sarah; granddaughter, Katelyn P. Schimpf; great-grandson, Derek Ryan Schimpf; brother, James Scheibelhut, husband of Shirley Mills, Pottsville; nieces and nephews. A religious service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., Orwigsburg, with Monsignor Edward S. Zemanik officiating. Friends are invited to call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. A committal service with military honors will be held at St. Ambrose Mausoleum, Schuylkill Haven.
