Herbert Leroy Bjorklund, 82, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017 at his home in Libertyville, IL. He was born July 6, 1934 in Chicago, IL and was formerly of Morton Grove, IL, living in Libertyville since 1981. Herbert was a master carpenter and owner of Algot Peterson Construction Company, and built homes in the northern suburbs for over 35 years. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean War, a life member of King Oscar Lodge #855, a member of American Philatelic Society and North Suburban Contractors Association as well as Grace Lutheran Church. He was an avid stamp collector and enjoyed building model airplanes and ships.
He is survived by his wife, Doris, of 61 years, 4 children, Craig (Kelly Mundt) Bjorklund, Scott (the late Theresa) Bjorklund, Cheryl (Dave) Hadsell and
Steve (Cori) Bjorklund and also by 7 grandchildren, Annamarie, Karina, Luke, Alex, Maria, Annika and Jack.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Don in 1974.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30am Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Grace Lutheran Church, 501 Valley Park Drive, Libertyville. A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 8:00pm Wednesday at the church.
