Henry Eugene Bowie Jr. Laurens Henry Eugene Bowie, Jr., 93, husband of Julia Wardell Bowie, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at Greenville Hospital System. Known affectionately to his Laurens friends as "P-nut" and his Honea Path friends where he was born, as "Bud", he was the son of the late Henry Eugene Bowie, Sr. and Janie Davis Bowie. A W.W. II U.S. Navy Veteran, he served aboard the LST-515 during the D-Day Invasion. Retired from CPW, Mr. Bowie was an active member of First Baptist Church in Laurens. P-nut was passionate about baseball and was a gifted player in the Laurens Mill Textile League. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: a son, Philip Allen Bowie and wife Laurie of Greenville; and grandchildren, Andrew Scott Holliday (Libby) of Easley and Grayson Anne Bowie of Greenville. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Henry Eugene "Buddy" Bowie, III. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, October 14, 2016, at First Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Rickey Letson and Dr. Bev. Kennedy followed by a private burial with military honors in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church one hour prior to the service.
