Helen Marie Ward On the evening of January 7, 2017, Helen Ward passed away peacefully at age 82, after a long illness, and drifted off on her next adventure! Helen was born to Marie Louise (Rosengarth) Ward and Warren Simon Ward in Lewistown, Pennsylvania on October 22, 1934. She graduated from Lewistown Joint High School in 1952, and from the Temple University Hospital School of Nursing in 1955. She spent her entire career in service to others as a Registered Nurse, Public Health Nurse, and visiting home healthcare nurse. Helen was a long-time resident of both Bayville, New York, and Oyster Bay, New York, before moving to Fort Collins, Colorado, where she spent the remainder of her life. Helen was always a lover of travel and adventure! Her journeys included travel throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, and Israel. She had many special memories from skiing in Austria to sailing in Oyster Bay, to hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park. She treasured her family and friends, loved animals, and was the unofficial archivist of the family history. Some of her favorite evenings were spent listening to her musician friends playing world-class bluegrass in her brother's living room in Fort Collins. Helen is predeceased by her parents, Marie L. and Warren S. Ward, and her niece, Karen Ward. She is survived by her brother Warren W. Ward; nephews Terry (Brenda) Ward, and Jeff (Lisa) Ward; grandnephews Paul (Catie) Ward, Hayden Ward, and Keenan Ward; and grandnieces Jennifer (Tim) Ward McLean and Kelsey Ward. Burial will be private, but if you would like to celebrate Helen's time with us, she would be pleased if you would enjoy an Old Fashioned cocktail or anything chocolate in her honor! And whenever there is an opportunity to have an adventure, think of Helen, and say yes!
