Helen Sidor, 89, of the Hokendauqua section of Whitehall Township, passed away on Wednesday, January 11th, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown. Helen was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph Evaschuk, who died early in their marriage, and her second husband, Frank Sidor, with whom she shared 34 years of marriage until his passing in 2002. Born at home in Cementon, she was the youngest of the late Peter and Theodora (Havlar) Motsko's eight children. Helen retired from the Universal Pants Factory in Northampton, where she worked for over 40 years. She was a devout Catholic who took comfort in her faith. She attended mass regularly throughout her life, recited daily prayers and helped others during their times of need. When her sisters became infirm, she took it upon herself to help by doing household chores, driving them to doctor visits and providing care. She visited them frequently, often daily, while they were in the hospital or in a nursing home to ensure that they were getting good care. Helen was a generous and hospitable person. Helen, along with Frank, hosted many holiday dinners and cookouts at their home. She enjoyed cooking and baking for relatives and friends. During every Christmas season she prepared gift tins filled with many types of confections that she baked during the weeks before the holiday. Kiffels with apricot, nut or prune fillings were among her specialties. Survivors: Helen's survivors are devoted niece, Anita Motsko of Whitehall Township, who acted as her assistant and caregiver after Frank's passing; nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by sisters, Marie Szemenyei, Susan Sidor and Anna Motsko; and by brothers, John, Michael, Peter and Andrew Motsko.
