Helen Marie Barger Sanders, 90, of Chattanooga, entered peacefully into the presence of the Lord, her Savior, on Friday, Oct. 14, 2016. Helen was born in Oneida, Tenn. on May 8, 1926, and moved to Chattanooga as a child and attended Chattanooga High School. She was a devout Christian and a member of Lupton Drive Baptist Church. Helen was a loving wife and mother, and dedicated her life to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Ollie Jane Freels Barger; her husband of 57 years, Buddy Sanders; brothers, J.R. Goodner and Ronald Lynn Barger. She is survived by her sister, Edna Harris; son, Jimmy (Barbara) Sanders; daughters, Judy Veal, Carol (Doug) Parker, and Joy (J.W.) Kirk; grandchildren, Donnie (Brandy) Veal, Sheri (Ron) Byers, Kevin Kirk, Karen (Charlie) Stoll, Michael (Annie) Sanders, Renee (Matt) Ashworth and Jenny (Greg) Lyons; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 17, at 10 a.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Pastor Randy Bell officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
