Helen died April 7, 2017. She was born September 13, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from St Joseph's College, Brooklyn, in 1944 and married Joe Oberhofer the same year. She lived in Rockville Centre on Long Island for more than 20 years and was an elementary school teacher after her four children reached school age. She and Joe retired to Florida in 1977 and settled in Bradenton. She was a volunteer with SOLVE and also volunteered at a local food bank. They were founding members of Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Bradenton and were active members until they relocated to St Petersburg in 2010. Helen was predeceased by her husband Joe and they enjoyed 66 years of marriage together. She is survived by her four children; Tom (Signe) of St Petersburg, Jean (Ron Stewart) of Long Valley NJ, Jim (Janice) of Cupertino Ca and Rick (Deborah) of Geneseo, NY. She is also survived by four grandchildren and seven great grand children. She was a good mother and will be deeply missed by her family. A memorial mass will be celebrated Friday April 28 at Peter and Paul's at 9:30.
