SALAMANCA - Mrs. Helen L. Moore, 87, formerly of Salamanca, died Saturday morning (Oct. 15, 2016) at the Pines Health and Rehab, Olean, following a short illness. Born Oct. 19, 1928, in Salamanca, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Rhoda Bundy Meek. She was married on Oct. 14, 1950, to Mr. Minter Moore, who predeceased her Nov. 20, 1975. She had been employed as a certified nursing assistant at the former Salamanca Nursing Home. She was a former member of the Free Methodist Church in Salamanca and the Richburg Fireman's Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo, traveling, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and riding on the back of her son's motorcycle. Surviving are six children, Ann (Jon) Jacek of Lawrenceburg, Ky., Linda (Jerry Sr.) Lyman of Richburg, Donald Moore of Ellington, Thomas (Diane) Moore of Richburg, Jean (Doug) Bliven of Portville, and Kenneth (Cyndy) Moore of Richburg; grandchildren, Jerry (Cyndy) Lyman Jr. and son of Mooresville, N.C., Jamie (Warren) Brimmer and children of Harrison Valley, Pa., Jessica (Kurt) Williamson and children of Greenwood, Ky., Damon Jacek and son of Versailles, Ky., Darin (fiance Holly Rogers) Jacek of Benton, Ark., Ryan (Becky) Moore and children of Richburg, and Rayna (Jason) Ayers of Richburg; stepgrandchildren, Michele Chambers and children of Southaven, Miss., Chris Stives and children of Southaven, Miss., Karrie (Dan) Crawford and children of Little Genesee, Krista (Mark) Brunck and children of Hinsdale; and several nieces and nephews. Other than her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three sisters, Alta Lax, Elma Meek and Evelyn Sluga; four half-brothers, Russel Rowland, Floyd Rowland, Charlie Rowland and Hershel Meek; three half-sisters, Leona Porter, Onalee Rice and Lillian Dowicz. Friends called from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 18, 2016 at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Funeral Home Inc., 25 River St., Salamanca, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Oct. 19 at the Free Methodist Church, 387 Center St., Salamanca, when funeral services will be held. Mrs. Moore's son, Donald Moore, of the Ellington Baptist Church, Ellington, will be officiating. Burial will be in Steamburg Cemetery, Steamburg.
