Helen(Gallas)Macfarlane, a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and friend to many, passed away peacefully in the company of family on February 1, 2017 in Melbourne, Florida. Helen was born the second of two children in 1940 to Joseph and Dorothy(Feeney) Gallas, She was raised in Hartford, CT where she attended Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School and was a graduate of Hartford High School class of 1958. She married Alan Macfarlane in 1962 and the couple resided in East Hartford where they started a family with their first child Scott, in 1963. In 1967 they had their second child, Todd and bought their first home in Manchester, CT. In 1973 they completed their family with their third child, Shelley. Alan and Helen raised their children and lived happily in Manchester before relocating to Melbourne Beach, Florida in 2005 to spend the rest of their lives in retirement. Helen had various jobs throughout her life, including the phone company and the Kage Company, but her longest employment was at Heublein Inc. liquor distributors as a line worker in the bottling department for over twenty years. .She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Dorothy Gallas of Hartford, CT; her sister Arlene Parfait of East Hartford, CT, and her beloved husband Alan Macfarlane of Melbourne Beach, FL. She is survived by her children; Scott (Mary-Lynne) Macfarlane of Indialantic, FL; son Todd Macfarlane of Key West, FL; and Shelley (Mark) Adams of Lebanon, CT. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Ashley,Christopher, Alexa, Madison, and Chase, as well as her great grandchild, Olive. Helen leaves behind nieces, nephews, and other extended family, as well. Many thanks are extended to the countless number of phyicians, nurses, and staff who cared for Helen. Helen will always be remembered as a quiet, reserved and private person who was always more comfortable being the observer than the observed. She was the epitome of etiquette and dignity and carried herself in a manner worthy of royalty. To honor her wishes, there will be no services.
