Helen E. Lasky
Helen E. Lasky, 86, formerly of Rochester and Binghamton, N.Y., died Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, in Green Bay, Wis. She was born in Binghamton on March 29, 1930, to John and Mary (McGuane) O'Brien. Helen is survived by her children and their spouses, Michael and Carol Lasky of Bovey, Minn., Joan and Greg Kinate of Green Bay, Joseph and Nora Lasky of New Orleans, and Kathleen and Brent Calkins of Houston, Texas; her grandchildren, Alexander, Nicholas, Alexis, Ross, Maxwell, Sasha, Tara, James and Paige; seven great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters and their spouses, John and Donna O'Brien, Dennis O'Brien, Kathleen Blackman, and Marylou and Joseph Bokol. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Theodore "Ted" Lasky; her parents, John and Mary; and her two sisters and a brother, Anne Bulger, Patricia Lasky and Cornelius "Neal" O'Brien, and other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law as well as other relatives and friends. Friends may call at Pax Christi Catholic Church in Rochester on Friday, Oct. 14. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m., with services to follow at 2 p.m. A celebration of life will be held after the service at the church. Graveside services will be held at noon Monday, Oct. 17, at Holy Spirit Cemetery, Upper Front Street, Binghamton. Blaney Funeral Home, Green Bay, Wis., is assisting the family. Helen enjoyed people. Many of her hobbies included gardening, playing cards and games, watching the wildlife in her back yard, singing and devotion to her church. Throughout her life she volunteered for many activities her children were involved with, and later in life for people in need. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital and Pax Christi Church, Rochester. A special "thank you" to mom's friends whose love and support has been there for her for many years.
