Helen M. "Grandma Helen" Kennedy, 80, of Greenfield, passed away Monday, Oct. 17, 2016 at Court House Manor in Washington C.H. She was born Sept. 5, 1936 in Greenfield, the daughter of Harry E. and Nellie (Dwyer) Riley. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Greenfield, a 1954 graduate of E.L. McClain High School, a former employee of Court House Manor as a nurse aid for over 25 years, and prior to that was a co-owner of Kennedy Refuse. She is survived by her son, Dale (Tami) Kennedy of Crestview, Fla.; daughter, Patti (Paul) Penwell of South Salem; grandchildren, Michael, Nathan and Jacob Kennedy, Bethany Penwell, Robin (Shaun) Gorrell and Caitlin (Taylor) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Liam Gorrell, Lucas Gorrell, Nahla Johnson, Lyla-Beth Kennedy, Charlie Crawford and soon to be Fynleigh Johnson; and lifelong friend, Shirley Sparks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin "Tub" Kennedy, on Aug. 18, 2000; four sisters; one brother; both parents; and lifelong friend, Golda Looney. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21 at the First Baptist Church in Greenfield with pastor Chris Stokes officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery.
