Helen Hurtado, 83, of Holtville a beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her 6 daughters and brother. Helen spent her time and was happiest serving the Lord, her Church, and the Community. You could always find her helping those in need both spiritually and financially, touching many lives in the community. She was the founder and director of the first Spanish religious education program in St. Joseph's Church where she had long served as a Eucharistic and Liturgical Minister. An active member in the Cursillo movement. Fundraiser in support of the Breast Cancer Society. She was a member of the Guadalupana Society as well as a supporter of many other charitable organizations. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elias; daughter, Cecilia, and son-in-law Mike Johnson. Helen is survived by her 6 daughters, Mary (Frank), Rosemary, Margie (Gabe), Patty (Javier), Christina (Julio), and Janina; 15 grandchildren, 21 great and great-great grandchildren; brother, Rejino Castaneda and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held on Monday, January 16, 2017 at St. Joseph's Church in Holtville from 5 to 8 p.m. with Rosary being said at 6 p.m. Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Holtville. Burial will immediately follow at Terrace Park Cemetery in Holtville.
