VERONA > > Helen Hawthorne, 73, of 6358 Happy Valley Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, as a result of injuries received in a motor vehicle collision on Route 31, and Irish Road, in the Town of Verona. She was born Feb. 27, 1943, in Utica, the daughter of Lowell and Esther Cramer Hawthorne. She was a graduate of St. Luke's School of Nursing, and was a licensed practical nurse. She was employed as an optical technician for Syracuse Eye Associates, and Costello and Allen Eye Associates in Oneida. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Karen Champlin of Victor, and Scott and Marcie Champlin, of Knoxville, Tenn.; three brothers, Brian Hawthorne of North Carolina, Russell Hawthorne of Connecticut, and Roger Hawthorne of Pittsford, N.Y.; a sister, Karen Hawthorne of Sevierville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. There will be a Memorial Visitation on Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, from 4-7 p.m. at the Coolican-McSweeney Funeral Home, 322 Washington Ave, Oneida. Friends are invited.
