Heidi Elsa Koch Memphis, TN Heidi Elsa Koch, age 87, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, was called home to be with her Lord after a lengthy illness. Heidi was born and raised in Dresden, Germany where she survived the bombing inferno of February 1945, which largely destroyed the city. She was one of five in her class that survived. She met her husband, and the love of her life, Gottfried Koch, in Bremen, Germany, where she was a seamstress. They married in February of 1954 and moved to Memphis in 1955 where they raised their family. Heidi was a homemaker and had been a member of Messiah Lutheran Church since its inception. Heidi never knew a stranger. She was a nature lover and enjoyed arts and crafts, classical music, as well as photography in later years. She touched the lives of others in so many ways in her time on earth. She leaves behind her loving husband; her son, Walter Koch (Flavia) of San Francisco, California; her daughter, Susi Edwards (Mark) of Memphis; her daughter, Cornelia Koch of Atlanta, Georgia; her daughter, Sabine Capilitan (Steve) of Long Valley, New Jersey; and her grandchildren, Martin and Marina, Savannah and Matthew, Zachary and Hayley. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Messiah Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 15 from four to six o'clock at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Road, Bartlett, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 3743 Austin Peay Highway, Memphis, Tennessee on Monday, January 16 at two o'clock.
