Hazel I. Schaller
Hazel I. Schaller, 81, of Perrysburg passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at Kingston of Perrysburg. Hazel was born Jan. 22, 1935, in Swancreek Township, Fulton County, to the late Elmer E. and Loretta M. (Fleitz) Puehler. She married Glenn E. Schaller on April 19, 1958, and he preceded her in death on April 27, 1998. Hazel was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Stony Ridge, Ohio. She was active in the altar, worship, and music committees. She was friends with everyone in her parish and community. She carried on her family's tradition of selling produce, canned goods, and crafts at Toledo Farmer's Market. She enjoyed numerous crafts, gardening, spending time with her Bunco group, and supporting the family farm and business. Family and friends have been Hazel's passion. She enjoyed many activities with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She looked forward to spending winters in Florida and eagerly returning to Perrysburg in the spring. She is survived by her children, Joe (Mary) Schaller of Perrysburg, Kathy (Rick) Emch of Pemberville, Jeff (Mickey) Schaller of Perrysburg, and Steve (Chris) Schaller of Perrysburg; grandchildren, Laura Schaller, Johnna Timmons, Jake Emch, Tyler Schaller, Stuart Schaller, Brecken Schaller, Sarah Schaller, and Jenny Schaller; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Grace Davidson and Mary McClure; brother, Jim Puehler; and friend, Glen Eckel. Hazel was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Stephanie Emch; sisters, Wilma Ott and Alice McDowell; and brother, Howard Puehler Sr. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, at St. John's Lutheran Church Stony Ridge, 5520 Fremont Pike, Stony Ridge, with Pastor Cindy Ritter officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Meigs Union Cemetery. Friends will be received 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary St., Perrysburg, and at the church one hour prior to services on Thursday. The family would like to thank all of her friends, caregivers, Waterford at Levis Commons, and Kingston Rehabilitation in Perrysburg for all their care and support. They would also like to thank Hazel's sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Dan McClure, and brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Carol Puehler, for all of their help and support.
