Hattie B. (Ellenberg) Bland
RIO - Hattie B. Bland, 100, Rio, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, surrounded by her family. Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at Rio Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Alpha, where memorials may be left to Rio Presbyterian Church and online condolences can be made at www.petersonwallinknox.com. She was born Jan. 25, 1917, in Twin Branch, West Virginia, to Henry and Lydia Ferguson Ellenberg. She graduated from Cutler High School in Illinois. Hattie married George C. Bland on June 22, 1940, in Missouri. He passed away on Feb. 6, 1987. Hattie was a homemaker. She was employed at Ed's Family Restaurant in Rio. She loved quilting, sewing, cooking, gardening and her flowers. She was a member of Rio Presbyterian Church. Survivors include two daughters, Sandra (Ed) Gullstrand of Rio and Barbara (Jerry) Lieber of Macomb; one son, Gary (Sandra) Ellenberg of Galesburg; grandchildren, Jean Ann (Keith) Erickson, David Gullstrand, Sara Karjala, Doug (Keri) Lieber, Stephanie Capps, Tim Ellenberg and Dane (Evelyn) Ellenberg; great-grandchildren, Barbara Ann (Ryan) Binkley, Sally (John) Staab, Valerie Erickson, Grant Gullstrand and fiancé Jenny Youngquist, Lena and Joe Karjala, Abbey Lieber, Cody Capps, Annie and Ben Ellenberg, William, Warren and Hazel Ellenberg; one great-great-grandchild, Hattie Mae Binkley; and one nephew, Richard (Janet) Bland of New Windsor. Her parents; husband; one son, Larry Ellenberg; sisters, Bertha Ellenberg, who died in infancy, Gladys Meineke, Ida Coleman, Anna Schwarz; and twin brothers, Howard and Harlan Ellenberg preceded her in death.
