Harvey E. Likens
Harvey E. Likens was born on January 22, 1933, in Macon County, Tennessee, to the late Mack Dall Likens and Lou Eddie Keen Likens. He was one of six children born to this union. Mr. Harvey was saved as a young man at Union Hill General Baptist Church. He married Miss Betty Jean Freeman on January 19, 1952. Harvey served his country in the United States Army from July 1953 to May 1955. He and Betty were blessed with seven children; two sons and five daughters. Mr. Harvey retired from G.E. in Scottsville, Kentucky, after several years of dedicated service in the Maintenance Department. Along with his parents, Harvey was also preceded in death by son, Stevie Likens; daughters, Anita Joyce Huff and Hilda Graves; Infant daughters, Brenda Kay and Sharon Fay Likens; Brothers, Gerald Dean, J.D., Melvin Eugene, and Lloyd Likens; and sister, Barbara Moore. No one in the Rocky Mound Community could have asked for a better neighbor and friend than Mr. Harvey Likens. He always raised a big garden and graciously shared his bounty. Harvey didn't want anyone to go hungry. He would drive friends and loved ones to doctor appointments or the grocery store and always refused any kind of payment – just a simple "Thank you" would do. Harvey loved his family very much and especially enjoyed taking care of his Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren. On Thursday, March 9, 2017, at the age of eighty-four years, one month, and fifteen days, Harvey was called to his Heavenly Home. He is no longer suffering here on Earth. From the testimony of salvation he left behind, we know his soul is with his Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ. Harvey will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors. Mr. Harvey E. Likens is survived by; Wife, Betty Jean Freeman Likens; Son, Elder Jeff Likens, and wife, Sheila; Daughter, Regina Hesson and husband, Windle; Daughter-in-law, Leanetta Likens; Grandchildren, Stephanie Likens, Terri Likens, Anthony Walker, Jason Hesson, Christin Wilburn, Wendy Rhim, Tyson Huff, Amber Coley, Jennifer Bussey, Meghin Glover, Sarah Scruggs, Hannah Farley, and Jamie Graves. Twenty-six Great-Grandchildren and two Great-Great-Grandchildren also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Harvey E. Likens were Conducted on Saturday, March 11, 2017, from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Brother Marty Meador and Reverend Harold King officiating. Interment followed in the Shrum Cemetery.
