In memory of
Harry L. Burger, 97, of Upper Black Eddy, PA passed away Sunday in the home of his daughter, Sarita Witko, in Emmaus, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Kistner) Burger in 1997. He was born July 23, 1919 in Danville, PA, a son of the late John and Elizabeth Owens Burger. Harry was a 1939 graduate of Danville High School. He was an army veteran of WWII where he served as a staff sergeant in charge of a medical dispensary in the 11th Airborne 472nd Field Artillery Para-Glider Battalion in the Pacific Theater. He was a retired long time employee of the Riegel Paper Company, Milford, NJ. He was a member and former elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Milford. He was a master mason and past master of Prosperity Lodge #567, Riegelsville, PA. He was a member of the Frenchtown American Legion. Survivors: He is survived by two children, David Burger and his wife Sandy; Sarita Witko and her husband Ronald; four grandchildren, Michael Burger and his wife Erica; Alexander Witko and his partner Courtney Hunt; Kara (Burger) Surrena and her husband Alan; and Nicholas Witko and his wife Kathryn; and four great grandchildren, Caden, Matthew, Cameron and Zella. Harry and Ruth were a loving and giving couple who will be forever missed by family and friends. Services: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 18, at 12 noon in the Robert W. Snyder Funeral Home, 327 Easton Rd., Riegelsville, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 11 a.m. until 12 noon. Interment will be held privately in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Danville, PA.
