Harry Bratty, age 95, of Jefferson Twp., Pennsylvania, passed away, Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, at the hospital surrounded by his family. Harry was born June 13, 1921, in Winton, Pa., to Robert and Annie Bratty. He graduated from Jessup High School in 1937. Harry served in the Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the elite Flying Tigers aviation group and he remained in the Air Force Reserves for 20 years. On Feb. 7, 1948, he married the former Violet Halastra of Peckville, Pa. Harry worked for the Southeastern Transportation Authority (SEPTA) and raised his family in Magnolia, N.J. He retired in 1983 and returned to Pennsylvania to live in Mount Cobb, Pa. Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Violet; and his siblings, Robert Bratty and Hazel Patrick. He is survived by his brother, Clifford Bratty; his five children, Paula Wittig and her husband, Lee; Patty Platz and her husband, Bruce; Harry Bratty Jr. and his wife, Loreanna; Robert Bratty and his wife, Cherie; and Eva Bratty. Harry shared his love with 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Harry enjoyed fishing, playing pinochle with his good friends, and making trips to the casinos. Harry was an avid sports fan and loved the St. Louis Cardinals. Harry had an incredible sense of humor, a green thumb, a love for life and an extremely positive attitude.
