Harold Eugene Shuck, age 95, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, in Bakersfield, California. Harold was born on June 21, 1921 in Salvisa, Kentucky to James and Esther Shuck. Harold served his country as a 1st Lieutenant of the Army Air Corp from 1942-1946. He flew the B-17 and the B-29 aircraft during World War II. He served in the Caribbean area flying radar mapping missions out of Puerto Rico. He received the American Theater Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. While in the service, Harold married Jacqueline Dunn in 1943. After his honorable discharge from the military in 1946, he worked for Oil Well Supply / U. S. Steel for 30 years in both Taft and Bakersfield. Harold and Jackie joined the Citizen Volunteer Unit for the City of Taft in 1996. In 1998 they accepted the position of Taft Police Department Property Clerks. They served the City of Taft until 2006 volunteering their time. In 2013, Harold and his son David participated in Kern County Honor Flight in Washington D.C., where Harold was finally able to pay respect to his fallen comrades during the World War II conflict. Harold was preceded in death by his wife Jackie and son Robert. He is survived by his daughter, Linda and Chuck Linn, son, David and Gale Shuck, grandchildren, Carrie Wilmoth Hester, Tarrie Wilmoth, Bill and Jenai Wilmoth, Ryan Shuck, Christa and Kevin Burton, Jeff and Joy Shuck, Candy Shuck, Alicia Shuck, Derrick and Jen Shuck. He was blessed with 16 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 10am at the Lori Family Mortuary at 1150 4th Street, Taft, CA.
