Harold Walter Lambert Harold Walter Lambert, a longtime resident of Pennington, N.J., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at home. He was 95 years old. Harold was born on May 21, 1921, in Sandy Ridge, Hunterdon County, N.J., to Fred and Leona E. Curtis Lambert. As a young boy, he lived in Three Bridges, N.J., then moved with his family to Ewing, N.J., to start third grade, and graduated from Trenton High School in 1939. Harold loved flying, and earned his private pilot's license right out of high school. He joined the Army Air Corps (now Air Force) during World War II, flew many types of aircraft, trained cadets in navigation and attained the rank of captain. He was a member of the Pennington United Methodist Church. Harold was employed by Textile Research Institute in Princeton, N.J., for 40 years as a mechanician. He was also responsible for the maintenance and operations of the grounds and facilities. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Ernestine A. Mitchell Lambert, and his brothers, Clarence R. Lambert and Wilfred N. Lambert. Survivors include his brother, Harry R. Lambert (Therese) of Columbus, Ohio; three children, Nancy G. Nye (Warren) of Barium Springs, N.C., Patricia A. Shaffer (Karl) of Harrison, Tenn., and Burton W. Lambert (Donna) of Pennington, N.J.; three grandchildren, Meredith C. Carlon (Jonathan) of Raleigh, N.C., Edward M. Nye (Chloe) of Jeju Island, South Korea, and Christian T. Lambert of Pennington, N.J., and three great-granddaughters, Ellie, Ansley and Hannah. The family is deeply appreciative for the genuine care received from the many caregivers, nurses and aides, as well as visitation and support from longtime friends and neighbors. A memorial service was held Friday, Jan.27, 2017, at the Pennington United Methodist Church, 60 S. Main St., Pennington, N.J. 08534, with the Reverend Daniel Casselberry officiating. Calling hours were held at the church. Interment was private in Ewing Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to either Pennington United Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice.
