Harold F. Grout Sr.
WILLIAMSTOWN - A funeral service and celebration of life for Harold F. Grout Sr., 79, of Rood Pond Road, was held on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home in Barre. He passed away on Oct. 1, 2016, at his home. Leading the service was James Walton, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of Montpelier, assisted by Dave Stonecliffe. Bagpiper Hal Grout, son of the deceased, played "Dawning Of the Day," "LaBaum" and "Going Home" prior to the service. A prerecorded song, "Old Shep," by Elvis Presley, was played. Dorothy Cadorette, daughter, offered words of remembrance as well as other family members and other members of the congregation. A message written by his son, Cliff Grout, who was unable to attend the service, was read by Dorothy Cadorette. Son Richard Grout read "The Volunteer Firemen." Robert Erickson of the Williamstown Fire Department also read the "Fireman's Creed." Cheryl Metivier, respite worker, read the Lord's Prayer. A Masonic service was held at the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home in Barre and was led by the members of the Summitt Lodge #104. Master was Lee Martinson; Sr. Warden was Nish Grout Jr. ( a grandson); Warden was Bryan Palmer and Chaplain was Larry Wiggin. The benediction was given by James Walton. Pallbearers were Nish Grout, Jason Cadorette, Joseph Cadorette II, Jameson Grout, Shawn Grout, Josh McCormick, Matthew Grout, Greg Booth and Tyler Booth, all members of the Williamstown Fire Department (in their fire truck) led the procession to the Maplewood Cemetery in Barre Town for the committal service. The dedication of the grave was led by Dave Stonecliffe. Flowers were placed on his casket by family members. Bagpiper Hal Grout led the congregation in the hymn, "Amazing Grace." Following the committal, family and friends gathered at the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints parish hall for a time of sharing and refreshments. Arrangements were in the care of the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre.
