Hans Adler Virginia Beach - Hans Adler, 93, passed away February 8, 2017. Hans was a WW II veteran who served aboard the USS Cepheus (AKA-18). Hans later earned his PhD at Columbia University and pursued a decade's long career at the United States Atomic Energy Commission. He served as chairman for various International Atomic Energy Agency working groups and authored/co-authored multiple books, papers and technical articles. In later life, he was a member of the North Bethesda Camera Club where he won multiple competitions and awards including black and white print photographer of the year. In his final years, he rekindled his interest in gems and minerals and was a member and contributor to the Tidewater Gem and Mineral Society. Hans is predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Mary E. Adler who passed away in April 2010. Hans is survived by his three sons, Robert Adler of Virginia Beach, John Adler of Houghton, MI and James Adler of Vero Beach, Florida; two daughters, Jeanne Ozenne of Hermosa Beach, Ellen Query of Yelm, WA; nine grandchildren, Christine Upton, Kenneth Twitty, Jericho, Maris, James, Jean and Michael Adler, and Christopher Ozenne; four great grandchildren, Andrew, Loralei and Bo Upton, and Amber Lyles. He is pre-deceased by his grandson, Izack Adler. His family will host a memorial service at 4:00 PM, Saturday, February 18, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. Interment will be private at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD. Online condolences may be made at www.hdoliver.com .
