Gwenyth Bingham Warton of Winnetka, passed away at Evantson Hospital on Thursday, October 13 at the age of 91. Born in Highland Park, IL, to Samuel and Gwenyth Bingham, Gwenie was a long-time resident of Winnetka. She attended North Shore Country Day High School and Bennington College, in Bennington, VT. Afterwards, Gwenie lived on both the East and West coasts, pursuing a stage acting career. In 1957, she married Shepherd Roberts, Jr. They had two children, Shepherd Roberts III and Gwenyth Oelerich. In 1969, Gwenie married John Warton and included in her family Jeffrey Warton, John Warton Jr., and Jennifer Warton. Gwenie was a strong supporter of the arts, including the Lyric of Opera of Chicago, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Goodman Theater, The Steppanwolf Theater, the Writer's Theater, and many local museums. She also spent many years as a docent at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago. She is survived by her sister Diane Pope; her brother-in-law Rigg Warton; her children John Warton Jr., Jeffrey Warton, Shepherd M. Roberts III, Gwenyth Oelerich, and Jennifer Warton. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lora Rendall, John Warton III, Thomas Warton, Rebecca Dennis, Nicholas Warton, Elizabeth Carson, Rebecca Hart, Jennifer Oelerich, Gwenyth Julia Oelerich, and Sam Oelerich. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 11:00 am at Christ Church of Winnetka, 784 Sheridan Rd. Winnetka, IL 60093. Interment private.
