Gwendlyn "Gwen" Green McDaniel, 85, passed peacefully to Heaven on Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, in Austin. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 at St. Anne's Church, 6055 Azle Ave., Fort Worth, 76135. A reception will follow. Burial: The family will hold a private burial. Memorials: Instead of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in memory of Gwen. Gwen leaves her family, her many good friends in Fort Worth and in Pitkin, Colo., to celebrate her life and give joy and thanks for her spirit. Before her death, she wanted everyone to know that she had a happy, happy life and that she was truly thankful for that life and everyone in it. She was a tough survivor of recurrent cancer and heart disease for 30 years. Gwen was born June 18, 1931, in Fort Worth, to Hubert Green and Ada Lee Jones. She worked as a medical office manager and secretary for 40 years in Fort Worth, the hometown she loved. Gwen married Dan McDaniel in 1953 and had 53 happy years with him. Gwen loved their log cabin home in Pitkin, Colo. and enjoyed the beauty and peace of the mountains with Dan for many years after their retirement. Dan passed away in 2006 and she missed him every day. Survivors: Two children, Charles McDaniel and wife, Diane, of Allen and Liz McDaniel Watson and husband, State Senator Kirk P. Watson, of Austin; four grandsons, Alan McDaniel and wife, Olivia, of Denver, Colo., Christopher McDaniel of Allen, Preston Watson and his wife, Catherine, of Austin, and Cooper Watson of Austin; two great-granddaughters, Juniper of Denver, Colo. and Jayden of Allen, Texas; sister-in-law, Sue Fournier Ewing and John Ewing of Fort Worth, who were always ready to help and work with a smile; brother-in-law, Jere Harlan and his wife, Charlene, of Albuquerque, N.M.; niece, Denise Fournier Cantrell and husband, Robert Cantrell, of Fort Worth, and their daughter, Andrea Cantrell.
