Gregory Alan Davis
Gregory Alan Davis, 41, of Colorado Springs passed away on Oct. 17, 2016 following a six year battle with brain cancer. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, at First Baptist Church, 317 E Kiowa Street, Colorado Springs at 2 p.m. Greg was born Aug. 10, 1975, in Greeley to Bob and Sue Davis. He grew up in Sterling graduating from Sterling High School and Northeastern Junior College. In 1999, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from Colorado Christian University with a degree in Political Science. He began his teaching career that year at Buchanan Middle School in Wray teaching U.S. history. In 2000, he accepted a position at Timberview Middle School in Colorado Springs where he taught for 15 years. He married Jordan Max on March 27, 2004, and their daughter Kaileigh was born in 2007. While in Wray, Greg began officiating basketball and was later very active in the Colorado Springs Basketball Officials Association acting as area director in 2003-2004. He was also junior college certified and officiated at a number of junior college tournaments in Kansas. Greg received numerous awards from the CSBOA including recognition twice for having officiated over 50 games in one season. He was selected to officiate the 1A Colorado State Championship games in 2009 and 2010 and a highlight was to be able to do the 2010 boys final won by Caliche. In addition, Greg was the owner/operator of Davis Lawn Care for a number of years in Colorado Springs. He was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. Greg is survived by his wife and daughter; his parents, Bob and Sue Davis of Sterling; brothers, Brian and wife Jess of Lakewood and Doug and wife Jess of Thornton; four nieces and one nephew; and his in-laws Doug and Cindy Max of Fort Collins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bob and Dorothy Davis of Peetz and Earl and Mary Lou Crittenden of Cheyenne. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the family for a scholarship fund to be established for his daughter, Kaileigh.
