Grayson Edward Mathis, age 67 of Westminster, died Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster, after an extended illness. Born January 22, 1950 in Montgomery County, he was the son of the late Walter Vernon and Madeline Lawson Mathis. He was the husband of Linda M. Mathis of Westminster, his wife of 39 years. Eddie had been an auto service manager for over 50 years. He enjoyed couponing, taking care of the family cemetery, socializing with family and friends, and spending time with his beloved bichon Lily and the late Mitzie. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters and sons-in-law Terry and Jamie Kesselring of Waynesboro, PA, Loretta Grieves of Westminster, and Shannon and Thomas Thompson of New Windsor, brothers David and Vernon Mathis, grandchildren Jessica, Christina, William, Madalyn, and Katrina, and 3 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his "mom and daddy" Charles and Lilian Mathis, by his son-in-law Olyn Grieves, and by his brother George Mathis. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 10am until 12 noon at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 12 noon at the funeral home. Interment will be private in the Seal Family Cemetery in Sunshine, Md. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
