Gloria E. Sarmiento
A much-loved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Gloria Sarmiento, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2017 with her family at her side. Glo, as her husband called her was a special woman that is missed, and will always be cherished. She was born December 27, 1944 in Alamogordo, to Brigido and Jane Contreras and is survived by her husband Pedro, daughter Monica Arvin, daughter Alicia Sarmiento, son Luis Sarmiento and grandchildren So?a and Seve. Gloria and Pedro shared a wonderful life together having been married for 55 years while residing in San Jose, California and Ruidoso. While raising three children, Gloria had an amazing 30 year career at Sunnyvale Public Safety starting in the records department and excelled to a Supervising Police and Fire Dispatcher. Gloria loved anything to do with trees and she enjoyed spending time in her fruit orchard. The trees were planted and grown from seeds that she sprouted in glass jars on her window sill. Gloria loved her family with endless generosity and support and nothing made her smile brighter than having her family visit and share laughter, watch movies and take walks with family and her dogs, Cielo and Mar. The memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery in Alamogordo, New Mexico. In lieu of ?owers, should friends desire, contributions may be made to any animal shelter - or to plant a fruit or ?owering tree in her memory.
