CAMERON, Gloria Joan Age 87 of Healdsburg, passed away peacefully August 2, 2016 at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach. Known as a kind, loving, and generous wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, she will be greatly missed. Born in Oakland, May 18, 1929, to Clarence Monroe Lewis and Dorothy E. Peck, Gloria was a gifted student and a lifelong learner. After graduating summa cum laude from San Jose State University with a BA in Education in 1951, Gloria taught kindergarten for several years before starting her family. While living abroad in 1989, she earned a diploma in modern French from the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. In 1949, Gloria married the love of her life, James E. Cameron (Jim), and together they built a successful life full of love, humor and family. Gloria was a vibrant member of every community she lived in from Northern California to Switzerland. A gracious entertainer, Gloria loved to cook for family, friends and events. She enjoyed traveling and learning about the world. She especially liked cruising with her husband Jim, and later with daughters Cristi, Joy and Kimberly. While cruising, she enjoyed playing games like trivia, bingo and a little gambling. Along with a keen mind for investing, Gloria had an eye for fashion. She delighted in shopping for wonderful clothes, art and jewelry in Healdsburg and around the world. Gloria was an active and generous member of many philanthropic clubs throughout her life including; American Association of University Women, Alliance Française, P.E.O., Dry Creek Neighbors, Healdsburg Historical Society, Planned Parenthood and Sierra Club. She is survived by daughters Cristi Cameron and husband Tim Mann of Tracy, CA, Joy Cameron of Santa Rosa, CA and Kimberly Cameron of Newport Beach, CA; seven grandchildren Erin Mann and wife Jessica, Scott and Brett Mann, John and Jason Lago, Cameron and Mackenzie Paskerian; one great-grandchild Colin Lago; sister-in-law Dorothy Keillor, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her loving husband of over 61 years, James Eggleston Cameron in 2010, parents and brothers George, Martin, and Gary. At Jim and Gloria's request, a private family service will be held for both of them in Kona, Hawaii. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Healdsburg Museum at P.O.
