Glenn Edward Weckman, 79, of Collinsville, Illinois passed away at 8:20 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at his home. He was born March 3, 1937 in Glen Carbon, the son of the late Alex and Inez (Breitfield) Weckman. He retired in 1999 from Granite City Steel after 44 years of dedicated service as a crane operator. He also served the community from 1955 until 1980 as a ambulance and funeral assistant with Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville. He served his country with the National Guard and was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Collinsville where he had served as a deacon and elder. After his retirement, he enjoyed his many years traveling and spending time with his family. He cherished his grandchildren and relaxing at the family lake home. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Weckman; three children and their spouses, Glenda (Christopher Calvin) Weckman of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Andrew (Jennifer) Weckman of Germantown, Tennessee and Dr. Amy (Dr. Christopher) Conger of Rolla, Missouri; five grandchildren, Zoe Calvin, Alexander Weckman, Harper Weckman, Lucy Conger and Cosmo Conger; mother-in-law, Viola Hightower of Edwardsville; sister-in-law, Kathleen Aczinowicz of Collinsville; several nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister-in-law, Harold Weckman, Milton (Juanita) Weckman and Richard Weckman; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty (Glen) Masters and Marion (Dave) Hill and a brother-in-law, James Aczinowicz. In celebration of his life, memorial visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Mary McDonough officiating. Burial will be at Glen Carbon City Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Dallas Heart Institute at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital and may be accepted at the funeral home.
