Glenn Costa Coito
GLENN COSTA COITO Glenn Costa Coito passed away in Chico on March 11 with his family at his side. Glenn was born in the family home on his mother's birthday, May 13, 1929 in Chico to Rosaline and Manuel Coito. Glenn attended Bidwell School, which is now the Grange Hall. He graduated from Chico Senior High School in 1947. He enjoyed attending high school reunions whenever they were held. Glenn lived in Chico his entire life except when he served in the Marines. This was during WWII. He was stationed in San Diego. After discharge from the Marines he remained in the reserves. At the start of the Korean War he was recalled to active duty to serve in Korea. While he was in Korea he received another draft notice. After being discharged from the Marines he came back to Chico and started working at The Record, which is now known as the Chico Enterprise Record. He worked there over 30 years, starting as an apprentice, and finished as the printing pressroom foreman. In 1963 he married Barbara Doss, now his wife of 53 years. After retirement they enjoyed many years of traveling in their RV with other family members. They both belonged to the Exchange Club and made many friends. Glenn was a founding member and board member of the Butte County Almond Hull Association. Glenn owned his own almond shelling business called Coito Shelling. He worked nights and weekends at the shelling plant along with family members. In the early 80's he closed the Shelling Plant and built a new business, Coito Printing. He worked there until he retired in the early 90's. Glenn and Barbara worked side by side in both the almond shelling business and the printing business Glenn is survived by his wife Barbara Coito of Chico, a sister Betty Quiring and brother Louis Coito both of Chico, son Tony Coito (Molly) of Rio Vista CA, son Ken Doss of Globe AZ, and daughter Patti Anderson (Alan) of Chico. Grandchildren are Robbie Anderson (Kelley) of Roseville, Kenny Doss III (Kristy) of Glendale AZ, A.J. Coito of Seattle WA, Kayla Coito of Folsom CA, Dylan Coito of Rio Vista CA, and Jenna Coito of Rio Vista CA. They are also proud to have 5 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, March 16 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Brusie Funeral Home in Chico. Services will be held at Brusie Funeral Home on Friday, March 17 at 10 am. Graveside service will be held at the Veterans Court at Glen Oaks Memorial Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations can be made to your favorite charity.
