In memory of
Glenn D. Casey
Glenn D. Casey, age 80, of Dubuque, Iowa, was called home peacefully at 5:35 a.m., on Friday, January 13, 2017, at ManorCare Health Services. To honor Glenn's life, private family services were held. Behr Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Glenn was born on March 3, 1936, in Asbury, Iowa, son of James W. and Alberta (Mahon) Casey. Glenn would spend the first few decades of his life farming in Cascade and went on to proudly serve his country with the U.S. Army from 1951-1953, before eventually moving to Dubuque. Glenn would finally meet and marry the love of his life, Betty Welbes-Korman, on August 31, 1966, in Galena, IL. They would unite their families and enjoy 44 years together, before she was called home ahead of him on March 8, 2011. Glenn understood the value of hard work and would devote years of his time and talents to multiple companies in the area before his well earned retirement from Eagle Window and Door in 1997. Faith was important in Glenn's life and he was a long-time and faithful member of Sacred Heart Church for many years. In his free time, Glenn enjoyed venturing out into the woods for a good day of hunting and he also found satisfaction in the many hours he spent working on remodeling projects around the house. Glenn's health has been failing and his earthly battles have now come to an end. We grieve within our loss, but we find comfort in knowing that he's finally home with his heavenly family and we will all see him again one day in a state of absolute perfection. Those left to cherish Glenn's memory include his 4 children, Joseph D. "Butch" (Sue) Korman Jr., Dubuque, IA, Susan (Joseph) Fecker, Andrew, IA, Cindy (David) Schwendinger, Dubuque, IA and Timothy "Tim" (Sonia) Casey, Dubuque, IA; his 8 grandchildren, Tammy (Bill Kaufman) Sprecher, Tera (Aaron) Turner, Eric (Emily Riniker) Korman, Ryan (Erica Wolff) Mauer, Michael (Cathy) Brimeyer, Amber (James Robinson) Brimeyer, Adam Brimeyer and Ashley (Marty) Meisenberg; his 14 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way, Cody, Cailee and Alex Sprecher, Jack and Chloe Kaufman, Logan and Lucy Turner, Carter and Jacqueline Mauer, Matthias and Evelyn Brimeyer, Teagan, Aiden and Lillian Meisenberg; and his siblings, Venita (Jack) Knapp, Cedar Rapids, IA, Duane (Gloria) Casey, TX, Gerene O'Brian, Monticello, IA, Wendell (Bev) Casey, Walnut Creek, CA, John Casey, Des Moines, IA, Pat (Sharon) Casey, Cascade, IA, Chuck (Donna) Casey, Cascade, IA and Cheri Wessels, Dyersville, IA. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Betty "Ma" Casey; a daughter, Cathy Jo Korman; 2 sisters, Kayla and Krista Casey; a son-in-law, Butch Mauer; and a brother-in-law, Breeze Wessels. A Glenn D. Casey memorial fund has been established, which will be distributed among his favorite charities. Glenn's family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of ManorCare, and Hospice of Dubuque, for the kind and compassionate care they have provided Glenn and his family. ...
