Gina L. Cressotti
Gina L. Cressotti, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away peacefully Oct. 14, 2016, at the age of 89. Gina was born in Springfield on June 8, 1927, the daughter of Agostino and Caterina (Consolini) Cressotti. She was a 1944 graduate of High School of Commerce and went on to work at Baystate Medical Center for 44 years, retiring at age 62. She started working at Baystate as secretary to the superintendent; in 1961 she was appointed administrative assistant and retired in 1989 as registrar of medical education. Gina was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. She also belonged to the St. Ann's Society of West Springfield, Massachusetts. She leaves her brother, Rudolph Cressotti, of Springfield; and sister, Dorothy Petrelli of Windsor Locks; seven nieces and nephews, Frank, Kathy, Debbie, Mark, Karen, Joe, and Joanne. She had 12 great-nieces and -nephews; two great-great-nephews; and two goddaughters. The funeral for Gina will be held Wednesday morning, Oct. 19, at 9 a.m. from Tazzini Funeral Home, 22 Locust St., Springfield, with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Church, burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Oct. 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
