Gilberte "Gillie" Morello
Morello, Gilberte "Gillie" Gilberte "Gillie" Morello,97, recently of Nashua, NH passed away on October 14, 2016 after a recent stroke. She was born in Coaticook, Quebec, Canada on April 19, 1919, the daughter of Marie Anna (Hemond) and Joseph A. Couture. She grew up in Island Pond, VT. She moved to New York in 1940 as an employee of the Thorndike family in Montrose. In 1942 she married Michael Morello. They were married for 44 years until his death in 1986. They had 3 children, Mariann Potter of NC, Gilbert Morello of Montrose and Gary Morello of NH. She worked as a secretary for many years, finally retiring at the age of 82 because "I don't want to learn a new computer system." She enjoyed traveling and made numerous trips to visit family in Canada, Florida and Germany. She was an active member of Montrose Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary and St. Christopher's Altar and Rosary Society. She was predeceased by a sister, Jeanne, and 2 brothers, Gaston and Joseph. She is survived by her sister Fern, a longtime resident of Nashua, NH; her daughter Mariann and her husband John Potter, their 3 children John Potter, Michelle Hester and David Potter and between them 5 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren; her son Gilbert; her son Gary and his wife Cindy, their 2 daughters Jessica Read and Johanna Boyd, and 4 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 4-8PM at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 170 Kings Ferry Rd., Montrose, NY 10548. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 20th at 10AM, St. Christopher's Church, Buchanan, NY with burial to follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Verplanck, NY.
