MANSFIELD - Gilbert Lee Gossett passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017 in Mansfield, TX. There will be a visitation Thursday, February 16, 2017 @ 11AM at Mansfield Funeral Home, with a funeral service at 1PM and the graveside service following at Southland Memorial Park. Gilbert was born in Blossom, TX on February 1, 1934 to Oscar and Elizabeth Gosset. He grew up in Blossom, TX and took a liking to the outdoors. Gilbert was know to hunt and fish, sometimes turning those into family trips. He loved to go out onto the lake on his boats, and spent a lot of time with his friends and family, and spend time tending to his garden. He met his to be wife Bettye in 1952 and was soon spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was the family mechanic and passed his knowledge to his children. He owned his own HVAC company, Gossett and Sons Heating and Air Conditioning, and would frequently help those who needed his services but could not afford them. For the last two decades of his life he lived on his farm with his wife of over 60 years in Telephone, TX. They would watch the squirrels and the deer in the morning on their porch together. He was very loving and friendly and will be deeply missed by everyone who had the chance to meet him. He was preceded in death by his wife Bettye Gossett. Gilbert is survived by his son Ricky Lee Gossett and his wife Cynthia Ann Gossett, his grandchildren Joshua Gossett, Ryan Gossett and his wife Amanda, and Kali Gossett, and his great grandchildren Blake and Austin Gossett.
