Gerard "Gerry" Veautour
Gerard 'Gerry' Veautour Fitchburg, MA native; 85 Gerard "Gerry" Veautour died on February 9, 2017 in Cape Coral, FL due to a heart attack. He was 85. Mr. Veautour was born on April 10, 1931 in Fitchburg, MA to his parents, Gerald and Ada (Arsenault) Veautour. He graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1949, and joined the Air Force on his 20th birthday with his twin brother, Edgar. He spent four years as an Air Force Corporal, and lived in Tripoli, North Africa for 18 months working as a mechanic. He married Mary Edwards in 1956, and they raised their only son, Todd Veautour, in Fitchburg. In 1981, Gerry remarried to Beulah Costello and moved to Manomet, where he worked as a carpenter alongside his son-in-law. He was a hard worker, a proud veteran of the Korean War, and a dedicated parishioner of St. Bonaventure Parish in Plymouth. He enjoyed being on the ocean, growing vegetables in his garden, and sharing a good laugh over a good meal with good company. He is survived by his wife, Beulah; his older sister, Irene Lapointe of Hollis, NH; his twin brother, Edgar; and sister-in-law, Christine of Naples, Florida; his son, Todd of Cape Coral, FL, his granddaughters, Amanda (Veautour) Goodwin and Lindsey (Veautour) Jaroszewicz; three great-grandsons, Briggs, Roman and Henryk; and many nieces and nephews. A full military burial will take place at a later date. The family requests that anyone who would like to honor Gerry's memory and service, please do so by donating or volunteering at your local veterans' organization.
