He was a highly decorated disabled United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He served as a First Lieutenant with the Seventh Infantry Division. He served as a First Lieutenant with the Seventh Infantry Division as a forward observer and was severely wounded on October 15 1952 at the summit of âTriangle Hillâ in one of the bloodiest battles during the âOperation Showdownâ campaign. Gerry received the Purple Heart Medal the Bronze Star Medal for Valor with oak leaf cluster and the Korean Service Medal w2 Bronze Campaign Stars.
He was married to Ruth.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Church of the Resurrection 1057 Main Street Hingham on Tuesday October 18th at 10 oâclock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals 1 Independence Avenue Quincy on Monday 4 - 8 p.m. Interment with military honors at Couch Cemetery in Marshfield.
