Gerard M. "Jerry" Koleman AGE: 65 • formerly of Raritan, NJ Gerard M. "Jerry" Koleman, 65, formerly of Raritan, NJ passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016. Jerry was born in 1951 in Fountain Springs, PA to Michael and Helen (Makuta) Koleman. His parents died when he was very young. He was raised from age 9 by his older sister and husband, Helen and Philip Possessky, in Raritan. He was not only an Uncle but an "older brother" to their 6 children, he was one of the family. He graduated from Bridgewater-Raritan High School West, and was an electrician by trade. No one loved animals more than Jerry. He had many heartwarming stories about his dogs, especially Smackers. He liked to reminisce about his many adventures growing up in Raritan, including playing volleyball and wiffle ball with the family and neighborhood kids. He loved fishing in local streams and Round Valley as well as crabbing and fishing at the Jersey shore. Jerry loved his music, and enjoyed playing his guitar at White Oak Park or for his friends. Hard rock was his favorite, and he played Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, and other bands from the 60s and 70s. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two sisters, Irene Dunsavage and Eleanor Koleman, as well as his brother in law, Philip Possessky. To cherish his memory, he leaves behind his sister Helen and brother Michael and his nieces and nephews who were like siblings to him: Cindy (Stan) Martin, Denise (Ray) Glowacki, Philip (Denise) Possessky, Janice (John) DuBose, Christopher (Lianne) Possessky, and Michelle (Rich) Mongillo. He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews. His wife, Carol, resides in Whitehouse Station. Jerry had a heart of gold and will be sadly missed by those who knew him. A private Memorial Service will be held in his honor by the family.
