Geraldene D. Smith-Dillow
March 5, 2017 Geraldene D. Smith-Dillow went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 5, 2017. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lt. Col. Kenneth E. Smith (USAF, ret). She is survived by her beloved husband, Major Billy G. Dillow, (USAF, ret). Gerry is also survived by her sons, Michael K. Smith and his partner Karen of Sugarland, TX and Brian C. Smith of Santa Monica, CA. Gerry was born in New Jersey but moved at a very young age to St. Louis, MO with her parents, John and Golda Meese and older brother John, Jr. where she met her first love Ken. Ken and Gerry moved 28 times while Ken was in the USAF, before retiring to San Antonio. After Ken's passing Gerry met and married the second love of her life, Bill. They enjoyed each other's company and had many adventures together including traveling to Las Vegas on many occasions. She will be missed by her many friends with the Red Hat Society, volunteering at the Methodist Church, and especially her longtime friend of over 60 years Nell Berry. Gerry and Nell with their Air Force husbands, Lt.Col. Kenneth E. Smith (ret, deceased) and Col. E.G. Berry (deceased) and children, Michael, Brian, Sandy, and Erskine were stationed at several bases around the world together; Japan, Hawaii, Europe and in the United States. They both loved playing golf and bridge together and meeting all the other wonderful military families along the way. Gerry will be missed by Bill's children, Carol (Dillow) Darnell and husband Don of Las Vegas, NV, Bob Dillow of El Paso, TX, John Dillow and wife Sue of Portland, OR. She will also be missed and also miss Bill's six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The family would like thank ALL the loving caretakers from Vitas Hospice (Group 552) and AA Senior Care Services. They ALL treated Gerry like their own Mother. Visitation will be Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Colonial Funeral Home. Services will be Monday, March 20, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at Universal City United Methodist Church, 90 Winn Ave., Universal City, Texas with a reception to follow at the church. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:00 P.M.
