Zeck, Gerald Anthony Dec. 29, 1939 - Oct. 12, 2016 Gerald Anthony Zeck, age 76, was born in Minneapolis and moved to Sarasota in 1984. He taught geography at Ohio and Syracuse universities before becoming a freelance photographer. In Florida, he taught photography and worked as a cartographer for Waterproof Charts. Throughout his life, he continued drawing as well as taking photos and manipulating digital images. Surviving family members include ex-wife Pamela, sons Christopher (Regina) and Adrian (Lindsay), daughter Cynthia (Kristy), grandsons Shayne (Lyuba) and Johann, great-grandchildren Matrona and Christopher, brother Gregory (Jennifer), sisters Janice McCarthy, Kathleen Corey, and Jeannie Zeck, and 21 nieces and nephews. Gerry was an educator, philosopher, photographer and artist who was always searching for the answers to life's great mysteries and has perhaps now found them. Gerry walked the beaches on Turtle Patrol and would be happy if memorial donations were made to Sea Turtle Conservation Program at Mote Marine Laboratory.
