LEUGERS, George "Yatz" Leo Age 68 of Oxford, Ohio passed peacefully surrounded by family on October 13, 2016. He was born in Hamilton, OH, on May 18, 1948, to Harold and Marguerite (Schlickmann) Leugers and was a 1966 graduate of Hamilton Catholic High School. Prior to working 40 years for CSX railroad, Yatz served in the US Navy from 1969-1970. He was honorably discharged and received the Vietnam Service, National Defense Service, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign medals. He was a Mason and member of the Scottish Rites. Yatz was a realist who believed in family first, hard work, and that life was meant to be lived. He was a licensed charter captain for fishing expeditions and an avid Lake Erie walleye fisherman, having accumulated over 300 hundred Fish Ohio catches. Yatz also enjoyed making fishing lures, sewing boating tops, and repairing boat interiors. Those who are left to treasure his memory include his wife Betsy Ann (Hale) of Oxford, OH; 2 sons; Greggory Proffitt of Oxford, OH, and Christian (Emily) Leugers of Sumter, SC; 3 daughters; Rachel (Jason) Underwood of Oxford, OH, Julie (Scott) Mesaros of Clovis, NM, and Carrie (Tony) Proffitt-Boyle of Oxford, OH; 9 grandchildren; Zachary and Brady Feltner, Tate Underwood, Isabel and Jackson Mesaros, Leonidas and Arianna Boyle, and Natalie and Ava Leugers; 2 brothers; James "Jim" (Doris) Leugers of Hamilton, OH, and William "Bill" (Marilyn) Leugers of Fruitland Park, FL; 2 sisters; Marguerite "Marge" (John) Boggess of Palmetto, FL, and Jeanne (John) Creager of San Diego, CA; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends; Sonny and Alberta Lodder and the Darrtown Centennial Crew. We will miss you, your love, support, and sense of humor, Dad, Grandpa Yatz, Pop Pops. You will live in our hearts forever. No public services will be held.
