George J. HAYEK
HAYEK George J., 90, of Clifton, died Wednesday, October 12, 2016. Born in Detroit, MI, he resided in Paterson before moving to Clifton 63 years ago. George owned and operated George's Market in Paterson from 1946 till his retirement in 2006, still remaining active at the market. He is a devoted parishioner, lector and usher of Sacred Heart A.C. Church in Little Falls. George is a WWII Army Air Corps Veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post#199 in Hawthorne and the John Raad Post in Paterson. George was a member of the Clifton Optimist Club and a former Clifton Little League Baseball Coach. For over 70 years George dedicated his life to drum corps. Starting as a member of the St. George Cadets in Paterson, he was a founding member of the Hawthorne Caballeros Drum and Bugle Corps in 1946 and a founding member of the Hawthorne Caballeros Alumni Corps in 1994 where he remained an active member until his passing. George established the Hawthorne Caballeros Grand Prix in Clifton in 1964 and remained chairman for 52 years. He was inducted into the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame in 1994 and the New Jersey State Drum Corps Hall of Fame in 2004. George is predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, the former Lorraine Doomany who died in 2013, by a son, Ronald Hayek who died in 2000 and by a sister, Agnes Hayek. He is survived by two sons, Charles and Robert Hayek both of Clifton, by two grandchildren, Christian and Sarah Hayek, by a daughter-in-law, Lizbeth Hayek of Glen Rock and by two sisters, Lorice Sabeh and Antoinette Tuzzolo both of Clifton. Funeral services will begin 9AM Tuesday at All-wood Funeral Home, 660 All-wood Road, Clifton, NJ 07012 with a 10AM Mass at Sacred Heart A.C. Church. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Visiting hour are Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Memorial donations to the Hawthorne Caballeros Scholarship Fund, P.O.
