George Marvin Brown, 63 of Holt, Florida went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. George was born on February 7, 1953 and was a lifelong resident of Okaloosa County. He owned and operated Brown's Grocery in Holt for 35 years, George was loved by many as a cornerstone of his community. A man of faith and the heart of his family, George lived his life as a hard worker, a determined fighter and a man who stood strong on the promises of the Lord. He will be deeply missed by many. He was preceded in death by his parents Randolph and Thelma Brown and his precious granddaughter, Madison Taylor. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Chris. Children Doug Capps (Toni), Dana Pratt (Steve), Crystal Taylor (Scott), Alena Nary (Dennis), Gabe Fowler and Taylor Brown. Eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Brothers Wayne Melvin (Debby) and Randall Brown (Anita). A celebration of George's life will be held Friday, October 14, at First Baptist Church of Holt. The family will receive visitors at the church, beginning at 10. Memorial services begin at 11, followed by interment at Holt Cemetery.
