In memory of
George Baskovich 67, was born in San Pedro on August 28, 1949, and being forever a San Pedro boy, never lived far, even passing away in San Pedro on October 11, 2016 from cancer. He is the son of George and Mandina Baskovich from Makarska, Croatia. Survived by brother Anton Baskovich, sister Marlene Urioste and their families. He attended Seventh Street Elementary, Dana Junior High, and San Pedro High School. George then graduated from Cal State Dominguez Hills and went on to enjoy a career teaching History and Government at Carnegie Junior High and Carson High School that lasted 38 years until he retired in 2011. He loved teaching and especially the relationship he had with both his students and fellow teachers. George loved golfing with his buddies on courses all over Southern California. He also followed college football, a fan of both UCLA and USC, and loved traveling with friends and family in the US, and Europe, and visited Croatia three times. He will always be remembered for his outgoing personality, his gift of quick wit, and his sense of humor, with a talent for friendly sarcasm, and sense of ethics and general love and respect for people of all ages around him. A visitation will be held on Tuesday October 18 at McNerney's Mortuary from 3-8 pm, with a funeral mass to be celebrated Wednesday at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 10:30 am, and burial to follow at Green Hills Memorial Park.
