Genevieve "Genny" Gay, 87, of Midland, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 12, 2016 at her home. She was born Jan. 8, 1929 in Tawas, the daughter of the late John Henry and Irene Lavina (Thomas) Overly. On Dec. 18, 1948 she married George Raymond Gay in Midland and he preceded her in death Oct. 26, 2009. She had been a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Her dear cousin summarized her life saying, "She was an amazing lady, full of grace and a blessing to many." Genny is survived by her children, Allen Lee (Charlotte) Gay, Terry Lynn (Jennifer) Gay, Lorrie Ann (Robert) Hoop; and daughter-in-law, Cindy Marie Holbert; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Randy Scott; a granddaughter, Constance Marie; and by brothers and sisters, John, Lloyd, Lilly Kanyo, Carl, Chuck, Fred, Allison and Lavina. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will take place from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016 at Creative 360 in Midland. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Kidney Fund. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors.
