GARY TELFEYAN b. 19 June 1929, New York, NY d. 15 February 2017, Garden City, NY Gary Telfeyan, 87, of Garden City, beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Faithful husband of Nora for 58 years. Beloved father to Roland (Mary), and Jennifer. Blessed grandfather to Anahid, Hasmik, Rella, Glennis. He is loved by many family members and a multitude of friends. A follower of Christ, his passions were numerous, but his greatest was for God's Word. He delighted in Bible study and through it loved the Lord with all his heart, soul, mind, and strength. He loved attending services at many different churches. In the words of one pastor, ""one parish could not contain Gary."" He was a charitable man who loved his neighbor as himself, sharing freely of his blessings, without the left hand knowing what the right was doing. He was a top student and strong athlete, physically and mentally, hard to beat in tennis, racquetball, handball, ping-pong, bridge, backgammon, and chess. He earned a master's degree in mathematics from Adelphi University in 1962, studying under Donald Solitar. Each semester from 1962 through 1982, he took one or two advanced math and physics courses, while running his business. His home is full of math and physics books from these years of study. He was a member of the Pi Mu Epsilon mathematics fraternity. In the Air Force during the Korean War he was a nuclear weapons specialist. He graduated in 1951 from CCNY with a BBA Cum Laude and in 1947 from Staunton Military Academy. He was the owner of Telfeyan Carpets, founded in New York in 1888, still in operation. He was the president of the Telfeyan Evangelical Fund, a family philanthropic fund. He was a past president and an active member of the Garden City Chamber of Commerce and Lions Club. He was baptized in the Armenian Evangelical Church of NYC which his grandfather built in 1916 and was a long-time active member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Garden City, NY. * * * Please join us to celebrate the blessed life of Gary Telfeyan.
