HALE CENTER -- Gary Louthan, 67, of Hale Center, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at his home near Hale Center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Hale Center with Brother Kris Knippa officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park in Plainview under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors of Hale Center. The family will receive friends at the Family Center at Ramage Funeral Directors in Hale Center from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2016. James Gary Louthan was born July 1, 1949, in Hale Center, to William and Nellie (Johnson) Louthan. He graduated from Hale Center High School in 1967 and went on to earn his bachelor of science degree from Texas Tech. While at Texas Tech, he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi Scholastic Fraternity, the Tech Crops Team and Alpha Zeta. A member of the First Baptist Church, Gary was a rural letter carrier for the United States Post Office for over 30 years. He served as the president of the Local 74 Texas Rural Letter Carriers Association for 20 years and was chairman of the Elections Committee for the Texas Rural Letter Carriers Association. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include two brothers, William Lloyd Louthan and wife, Margaret of Hale Center and Tommy Louthan of Hale Center and a sister, Jullie Sullivan and husband, Bob of Columbia, Maryland. He was blessed with a nephew, Robert Sullivan and a niece, Laurie Bevans. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 841125 Dallas, TX 75284-1125.
