Gale Griffith Davis Santa Cruz, CA Gale Griffith Davis passed away peacefully, in Santa Cruz, CA, on September 15, 2016. Her death followed that of her husband of 60 years, Floyd (Dave) W. Davis. Gale was born on Nov 14, 1934 in Portland Oregon, to Stanley Edward Griffith and Dorothy Jory Griffith. She was preceded in death by her parents and by brothers Randy and Edward. Living on to honor her legacy are her daughters, Kristen Davis and Shelly Gordon Davis, son-in-law Ed Gordon, grandchildren Drew, Elisabeth and Aaron Gordon, great-grandson Jayden Owens-Gordon and sisters-in-law Martha Griffith, Eleanor Griffith along with nieces and nephews. Gale's ancestors were pioneers from Cornwall England and Wales. They settled in the Portland Oregon and Lodi California areas where they farmed and began successful business ventures. Gale lived a wonderful life. She grew up in Burlingame and San Jose CA., graduating from Willow Glen High School and San Jose State College with a teaching credential. She was a life-long active member of Delta Gamma sorority. She and Dave married in 1955 and raised Kristen and Shelly in Santa Clara, CA and Redmond, WA. She earned a double masters' degree in Administration and Curriculum Development and spent many years working with youth in alternative schools both in Seattle WA. and Moorpark CA. Gale loved her family, friends and animals. She cultivated lifelong friends wherever she lived. She adopted many animals and passed her love of animals to her daughters. She took great care of her husband, kids and beautiful home. Her daughters and grandchildren were a source of pride and joy for her. She never missed a birthday, holiday, graduation, or sporting event. She will always be remembered by all of them as a "fun" Mom and Grandma. She was active in many animal welfare organizations, and in the Ventura Friendship Connection, where she forged life-long bonds with many dear friends. Although she was well-traveled, she loved the beach and was most at home in her lovingly restored Craftsman home in Ventura, surrounded by family and friends. Burial will be private.
