Fred Di Iorio President of family-owned construction business, built homes in Readington, 85 Fred Di Iorio, 85, of Bridgewater, N.J., passed away peacefully on Feb. 9, 2017. Relatives and friends are invited to visit the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Ave., Westfield, N.J., on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church in Martinsville, N.J. Entombment will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery. Mr. Di Iorio was born in Pietracupa, Italy, came to the U.S., and settled in Westfield, where he resided for many years before moving to Bridgewater. Mr. Di Iorio was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. After completing engineering school, he joined his father, who owned V. DiIorio & Son, an N.J. construction business. In 1981, Fred become president and the company grew. In 1992, the company was named "Contractor of the Year." Later in Fred's career, he built a development of single family homes in Readington, N.J. Along with his business, Fred enjoyed gardening and cooking. His true happiness came from spending time with his seven grandchildren; his wife, BettyJean; his three children, Vincent, Diane, and Linda, and his three stepchildren, Michael, Patrick, and Marybeth, along with his nephews, Angelo and Vincent Porchetta. Donations in Fred's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
